Hi, Iā€™m Mallory

I am a certified Full-Spectrum doula through Birthing Advocacy Doula Trainings.

I started training to be a Birth Doula in July 2021. I took a 4-week/32-hour training at the Simkin Center for Allied Births at Bastyr University. This included a Childbirth Education Class and a Breastfeeding Course.

In September 2021, I decided to pursue my Postpartum Doula certification as well, through MaternityWise Institute. I chose a self-paced course which totaled 8 hours of training. This included a class called "Understanding Mom and Baby Care".

In September 2022, I was awarded a partial scholarship to Birthing Advocacy Doula Trainings Full-Spectrum Doula course. Once finished, I did the rest of my requirements to become certified. Even though I am certified, I am continuing to learn and grow.

As your doula, I will offer you an empathetic, non-judgmental, unconditional support. I believe that how you feel about your birth and postpartum matters. I will help you make a plan, and to plan for the unexpected. I want you to feel empowered to step into parenthood with sure footing. Based on Whidbey Island, I can help parents with what they need in order to settle into the next chapter of their lives.

*I am Fully Vaccinated, First Aid and CPR certified, I have my Washington Food Worker Card, and passed a recent background check. I will wear a mask if preferred.

 FAQs

  • There were many reasons why I chose birth work. I have always had a passion for birth as long as I can remember. When my youngest sister was born, I was six years old and extremely curious about how she could possibly have made her way out. My parents answered my questions hesitantly but I was fascinated.

I loved babies. I cared for my dolls, begged to babysit neighborhood children when I was ten, and swooned over my nephews at thirteen. I never imagined having one of my own though.

I was seventeen when I had my first baby. I had family and friends supporting me but the prenatal/postpartum care that I received was subpar at best which caused a significant amount of trauma. My anger and confusion from my situation changed to quiet determination over the years to help people in similar positions. Supporting people through the sacred time that is pregnancy, birth, and postpartum is a passion that I feel deep in my being.

  • One of my goals of being a doula, is to assist teenagers who are going through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum pro-bono. Helping them to navigate the transitional time in their lives and make sure they are supported, no matter what they choose.

  • When I am not caring for others as a doula, I am a mother to two boys which occupies most of my time. From school, volunteering, playdates, sports, and keeping the household together, things can get busy.

Nourishing those around me with delicious foods brings me joy. My personal comfort food is Gumbo and I also absolutely love Salmon Nigiri! As a former barista, I am a sucker for a cup of coffee anytime!

I adore autumn with the colorful leaves, apple picking, and pumpkin patches. I love anything creepy or spooky and Halloween is one of my favorites to celebrate.

I actually have many hobbies, despite having little time for them. I enjoy creative writing, painting with acrylic paint, gardening, and reading. I have gifted many projects to friends and family over the years. I taught myself how to crochet in 2015 and have done small things like scarves, hats, blankets, star bunting blankets, and crochet breasts to help demonstrate breastfeeding.
